Track Condition & Weather.
Surface powdery, some dust with noticeable tracks left by wheels likely causing rolling resistance , therefore not a Capital “F” fast surface. Hoofbeats are muffled. Temps ranged from high 60’s to low 50’s. Infield flags stayed slack. Noise from infield frog population has incredibly loud.
Winning Drivers: How can a guy make a living?
- K. Clark: Congrats on another Grand Salami ( 4 wins)
- S. Masse: Overcame bad Posts to score 3 wins
- B. Davis Sr. & Jr.: score 2 wins in a combined 13 tries
- Team Murphy scored a 1st & 2nd in 2 starts
- Three mere mortals ( B. Treen, D Hudon, & D. Jungquist) got one win each
Focus on Predicability:
Excluding two races with breaking incidents, it was creepy straight.
- In 9 of 13 races , exactas paid < $30
- 5 Races hit the lowest possible paying exacata
Race #5 Claming 5-6K
At FRD this class is the next notch above straight Clm 4K, but class-wise it is light years away. Usually a race where any contestant can win. I simply don’t bet this class. The chart & photo tell how close the finish was. Yet in this event, players didn’t need no stinckin photo to certify the finish . The exacta Matrix told the story and zeroed in on the correct order of finish.
Race #5 results ……..
Race #6 Claiming 4k, parimutuel highlight
Billy D, aboard LAW OF THE YUKON, @ 0.35:1, parked every step come 2nd by a nk. SHOULD HAVE BEEN SLEEPING, runs over everyones money @12:1. He had been knocking on the door while competing against Stars like PACING ARTIST ( Clark/Isbister) & JOHNS DEVIL ( Masse/Vinnell). The triactor pays $945 to only 6 winning dollars. Dave J. & SLEEPIN were alone in the W circle. [3-5} would have paid $13. [5-3] paid $49
Race #7
#2 CC MAXIM parks a commited #7 RAMBO PASS. #6 PRIME TIME BLISS, liking it, cheers them on from the pocket . #7 flakes-off down BS. Mid BS they sit 2-6-1-9. #1 TAHUYA BURNER with Billy the kid decides FO, #9 DYNES AT THE BEACH, with M.R. Hennessy chooses to follow the money ( that would be K. Clark on PRIME TIME BLISS). Good Idea, that choice gets second place. See photo
Race #8: Claiming 10-12.5K
No strong primutuel opinions here. Exacta matrix was focused on [1-9] box paying about $17 bucks either way. Never Happen !. Instead SHMOKIN SHANNON A launched from PP#7 ( Murph’s boys are all sharp here at meet’s end). KOOTENAY ICE , (Masse/Chjadwick) beat the SHANNON.
Race #9 NW7501 L6
All very tough customers. Exacta matrix , again with the [1-9] box, paying about $14 either way. Never Happen. It was all 1-2-9 around the oval, #9 FATHER KNOWS BEST, deserved to be the FAV, but could not do it FO into V.Fast second half fracs. Therefore 1-2 exacta paid a rich $23. Tri was 1-2-9 and paid a very fat $65 for these three consensus picks.
Race#10 Clm25-30K, Parimutuel highlight.
Enough with this inside pp , rail around the track. It lined up like that but the leader #2 broke a hopple and confusioned reigned. RANGO (Beelby/Murphy) @ 80:1 odds [you have to be good to be lucky] inherited the front and led the dazed survivors to the wire. 2 winning dollars took $3187 in the triactor. There were 9 winning dollars in the exacta pool. $2 exacta [5-4] paid $602. Super f paid $885 for 3/4.
Race #11
OK . Back to Normal. Order of finish was 2-1-9 . and [2-1] exacta was lowest in matrix @ $10. But it never went around the track like that. . #8 HI TIME ASCOT ( S. Masse) tried it ww with a 30 second Q2, and disturbed what should have been a natural “Rail Job”. The fav, RS SAMPER ( Clark/Isbister) was an EZ winner, but the place photo was too much excitement for a 10 buck exacta.
No. Not The FRD precision Driving Team
Race #12
#6 I’M BOSSY ( DAVIS/jjj) , 2 to 1 morning line FAv, bet to even money , goes WW. GREEK BEACH ( Knight/collier) left for the pocket trip , but broke scattering the following field . Q2 went in 30.1 as order was restored. That was after the nights fastest Q1 in 26.4.
The eventual 2nd & 3rd place finishers had to overcome an 8 length disadvantage at Q1. I refer to ADMIRED BEAUTY & SHES GOT GO. It was 3 lengths back to fourth.
Race #13
#8 NF STAR Power, takes off the “go straights ” & goes wire to wire from PP#7 as 0.75:1 odds FAV .
Q1 in 27.4, Q2 decceled by 3.2 seconds, Q3 acceled by 2.4 seconds ( both nightly extremes) . Q4 in 29.4 and 8th furlong appeared to be faster than 7th furlong. It went 8-1 around the track. That was the lowest paying exacta at $14. The late race attracted $12,556.
