Welcome back, after a two week lay-off for Rodeo events.
For this 2 day weekend 275 horses were entered , 81% were drawn.

FRD Weather

FRD Weather

Track Conditions:
Warmest day of 2009. Not fast with capital F because of powdered surface, otherwise ideal. I will call it slow by 2 fifths of a second. Sun set behind distant horizon clouds and infield flags went slack just before R#6 post parade.
Special Conditions:
Neither Bill Davis Senior nor Junior are on the card. They competing in Ontario. J. Marino/W. Slopianka,   both major factors at FRD, are absent and have been racing at Cal-X. With those absences Mike Hennessy played the role of “Rainmaker” ( shotsky specialist).
Special situations:
During the two week lay-off you can bet your bippy that Murphy’s merry men have been taking care of business, while others may have been inclined to enjoy a spring break. Check today’s results chart. In 5 Starts , 1 wins and 2 seconds and 1 third.
Predictablity:
7  favorites  win in 13 races.
5 exactas paid < $16, 4 were < $9

Race #2 Maidens. (something special)

LEGAL SUSPENSORY, wire to wire  by > 6 lengths. Toyed with the field . Howald sat like a stone in the bike as LEGAL’s last quarter acceled by 1.1 seconds.

A beautiful thing to watch this filly’s gate in slow motion  as she approached the finish line. She has a huge stride with some exagerated vertical motion that could be redirected into more speed. Her handlers must be very high and I’ll be anticipating here return in the Fall.

Race #3, Clming 4K, F&M

SIZZILIN SEVENS, parked almost to Q1,  went W/W. Bet doen to 40 cents on a dollar and raced like it. Drew away by many. Q4 did not deccelerate. #2 TAHUYA MARY D, an honest effort for 2nd. ( It finished Clark/Masse)

Race #4 NW 5R

RS WILDCARD , W/W, Bet down to 10 cent on a dollar. exacta paid $6.90. Constant fast pace Q3 in 28.8, Q4 decceled by  1.1 seconds.
(Finished Masse / Clark)

RAce #5 Clm 15k-17.5K

$2 Exacata [1-2], was paying $11 either way.
But #1 was not following that script. He parked #2 around first turn. # 2 broke before Q1 and It went 1-3 around the trackfor a $84 exacta.

Race #6 Clm 4K NW1201L5.

IMA POCKET PICKER , Driven by Clark trained by Obe Wan Isbister, bet down to 20 cents on a dollar. He picked up the pieces after a park & piss duel to the BS. NITRO PROMISE #1 would not give up the rail and went to Q2 in 57 ~ wayyyy to fast for this bunch. But NITRO hang on very tough to be in the photo for second . MATT DILINGER (Hudon/ Millitaire) , given the perfect steer, won that photo for place. The exacta conjunction was foretold in pre-FRD history.

Beauty NW sky before race #7

Not the San Gabriels, but Vancouver's N. Shore Mnts.

Race  #7, Clm 5-6K

No strong opinions in the exacta pool. The lowest payoff was $25 for [3-5] either way.

#1 RS VOLCANO, ( Burke/Murphy) clearly the best, went WW ( Murphy’s men mean biz as meet wraps-up). 6 others were within one length for the place photo. TRIMLINE ( Clark/Gemmil) #8, parked every step win that photo.

Race #7 , percision driving team has gotten rusty.

Race #7, FRD's percision driving team needs practice

Race #8 Clm 10-12.5K

SHOMKIN SHANON ( McKellar/Murphy) attempts WW in fast fractions, but nipped at wire by HI TIME ASCOT ( Masse/Vinnell). It went 5-1-9 around the track and finished 9-5-1. Both #9 and #1 were claimed out of the race. The two lowest paying exactas were 9-1 at $13 and 9-5 at $15.

Race #8 was a tightie

Race #8 was a tightie

RAce #9 Nw 7501 L6

A very solid bunch. But from PP#8, CA MAURAUDER, wire to wire win  at 27 to 1 odds ( Burke/Murphy) ( Yes. Murphy’s merry men do mean biz as meet nears end). The three co-favorites all made solid sense, but only DOUBLE L TRUMP made it up for second ( with a trip worth watching on replay ), for a $140 exacta.

I’m beginning to think that this particular class at FRD deserves a yet undiscovered, special approach . So for now I’ll just continue to pass.

Race #10 Clm 17.5 F&M

#6 IM BOSSY(Treen), W/W, bet down to 20 cents on a dollar, win and was claimed by Young and Obe Wan Isbister. It went 6-1 around the track and paid $6 for a $2 exacta.  #5 REAL VINTAGE ( Hennessy) , thoughtful trip, raced well, at odds, come 3rd to make a decent triactor.

Race #11 Clm 25-30K

From PP#7, RS Drooler, ( Masse)  bet down to 60 cents on a dollar, goes W/W. The rain-maker, M. Hennessy, follows him around track at odds, for $73 exacta. RANGO ( McKellar/Murphy) tries First out in wicked 28 seond Q3, manages to salvage 3rd.

Race #12 clm 8K

NAZKO DAYTONA #6, parked around two turns in 57.2 still preservers. Amazing effort. He duelled with RODEO KING who was completely done on the BS. KG BRADSCAPE lack room in the lane and was eager to do more.

Race #13clm 7K, NW8l LT ( recalled start)

#5 TAHUYA RIVERDANCE, bet to even money, FO on BS to win
Lowest paying exacta foretold the outcome. [5-4] pays $13.
Trainer/owner Eric Neyhart has not been a factor until late in the season .

Nazko Porpoise ( retired )
